The Chicago Debate Summer Institute
The Chicago Debate Summer Institute (CDSI), in its thirteenth year, is the largest and oldest urban debate summer training
program for students in the nation. Its founding concept was to bring
the highest standards of university summer debate institutes -- for
instance, Northwestern's High School Institute program -- to the students
of the Chicago Public Schools. Instead of paying $3,000 or $4,000
as at those programs, the CDSI is free to all CPS high school students,
and lunch and debate materials are provided. So is the finest debate
instruction available in the country.
The CDSI is for debaters at any level -- from raw beginner to the
city's most competitive and successful Varsity debaters. The CDSI
staff is a careful blend of university debate coaches, highly accomplished
university debaters who have experience working with UDLs, and the
best urban debate high school coaches.
The CDSI runs for two weeks over the summer, generally from early
to mid August.
The CDSI regisration form in available here.

Medicine High School at DuSable Campus.

stops) -- there is a 47th Street bus that goes east. You can find a CTA map
here.
And use CTA tripsweb to plot out your trip here.
In order to alleviate transportation concerns,*the OHSP will provide
complimentary CTA fare cards for students attending the CDSI.* Please let
your students know that these are available. The OHSP's staff will pass out
fare cards to students on-site, so students will need to organize their own
transportation for the first day of the institute.
